Class Project

The most memorable class project I've had was in a Marketing course I recently took, where we focused on drivers of consumer behavior. The objective of the group project, was to choose a company that had faded from the spotlight and the factors that led it to do so. My teammates, Garret, Will, as funny as it sounds landed on Pillow Pets, a brand that was once everywhere on TV infomercials but has since disappeared.

Or interest sparked when we discussed the shift from cable TV to streaming services and its impact on brands like Pillow Pets that relied heavily on infomercial advertising. Our main insight was that children and parents simply aren’t watching traditional Cable TV anymore so brands that haven’t transitioned to digital marketing, like YouTube or Hulu, you use subcription bases.

The most interesting part was discovering just how influential marketing channels are in shaping brand relevance. A great product can still fail if it's not showing up where people are paying attention.

But what stuck out most about the project was the presentation itself. I've never received as much feedback from a class. Everyone was genuinely interested in the presentation, asking questions. After giving the presentation I understood that if you find ways to engage a room and spark creativity it leads to more memorable presentations.
